Onedin Line, The

synopsis
The music behind the opening credits of the series The Onedin Line is an excerpt from the Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia from the ballet Spartacus by Aram Khachaturian. This hugely popular series ran from 1971 to 1980 and followed the Onedin family headed by James Onedin a shipping magnet. Set in Liverpool in the mid -19th Century the series gave insight into the lifestyle and customs of the time covering varied subjects that included international political uprisings related to the slave trade.
