synopsis

The music composed by Nigel Hess is part of the Royal Shakespeare Company production ‘Arden of Faversham’ an Elizabethan play based on real events.  The plot involves the murder of Thomas Arden by his wife and her lover followed by their subsequent discovery and punishment.  The play is notable as an early example of a domestic tragedy.  This form of Renaissance play dramatized popular and local crimes rather bigger historical events.
